Mysuru: A BCA student of a private college in the city was killed in a road accident involving a KSRTC city bus near Jnanaganga School in Kuvempunagar this noon. The deceased has been identified as Keerthana.According to the Police and eyewitnesses, Keerthana was riding pillion on a scooter with another student when the two-wheeler was involved in a collision with a KSRTC city bus. The impact caused the scooter to get trapped beneath the bus and it was dragged for some distance.

In the accident, one of the bus wheels ran over Keerthana, leaving her with grievous injuries. Passersby rushed to the spot, stopped the bus and shifted her to Bhanavi Hospital. However, she succumbed to her injuries despite the efforts of doctors.

Haritha, the rider of the scooter, sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at the hospital. Her condition is stated to be under medical observation. The accident briefly disrupted traffic in the area.

On receiving information, Kuvempunagar Traffic Police visited the spot, conducted a preliminary inspection and registered a case. Further investigation is on.
