Mysore/Mysuru: Mysore Beauticians Welfare Association President K. Vedavathi N. Rai has regretted that both the City Police and the City Corporation are not taking strict action against the unauthorised Beauty and Massage Parlours which are bringing disrepute to the official Beauty Parlours.

She was speaking to the media at Patrakartara Bhavan in the city on Sept. 8.

Stating that the Association is operating for the last 25 years and is regularly updating the City Corporation about unhygienic parlours which are operating in the city without getting permission from the Health Department or Licence from the City Corporation, the authorities have not taken any action, she rued.

“As per rules, to open a Beauty Parlour we need to submit required documents to Police Commissioner’s Office and obtain verification certificate. But there are many unauthorised massage parlours operating in city and there is no action against them from Police,” she said and added that the Association will submit a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner and City Police Commissioner demanding strict action against such unauthorised Parlours.

Stating that there is a difference between a Beauty Parlour and a Massage Parlour, she expressed unhappiness about reports of raids on Massage Parlours being equated with raids on Beauty Parlours and cited a recent Police raid on a Massage Parlour. But it was projected as a raid on a Beauty Parlour, which has damaged the reputation of Beauty Parlours, she said.
