Mysuru: Stating that retired official Hanur Channappa’s popular play ‘Bellada Doni’ will be staged at California in USA on Oct. 11, senior journalist Amshi Prasannakumar said the play, which has been enacted many times locally, will be staged under the aegis of USA Kannada Sangha.
Addressing a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan here recently, Amshi Prasannakumar said the staging of the play at California is not only an honour for Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts, but to Kannada theatre as a whole. “Hanur Channappa, who has command over Chamarajanagar Kannada dialect, has used it effectively in his play. Though Channappa has written only three works, they can be termed as equal to a hundred works, as his works are much thoughtful in content. His books, while highlighting that inequality still persists in the society, has detailed about what should be done to address this issue and on the necessity of building a new society that is bereft of inequality and disparity,” he noted.
Mysuru District Journalists Association (MDJA) President K. Deepak too spoke. Author Hanur Channappa, Rangavahini theatre group’s C.M. Narasimhamurthy, Robin Sanjay and Mahadev were present at the press meet.
