Srirangapatna: A 33-year-old man from Bengaluru, who had come on a picnic with his friends to Balamuri was drowned in the river on Sunday evening.

The deceased is Puneeth Kumar, an auto driver by profession and a resident of Bannerghatta Road in Bengaluru.

Puneeth, who had come to Balamuri along with his friends, ventured into the water for a swim during which he got drowned.

Following a complaint from his friends, who had come with him, KRS Sub-Inspector Lingaraju and staff visited the spot and a case has been registered at KRS Police Station.

Police said that the body of Puneeth was shifted to MMC&RI mortuary, where post-mortem was conducted yesterday and the body was handed over to the family members.
