Bhagini Raaga Sourabha to feature Karnatak Vocal Concert

Mysore/Mysuru: BSS Vidyodaya and RAAGA Music Academy, Mysuru, in association with Samskara Bharati, will present Bhagini Raaga Sourabha — a sublime evening of Karnatak music featuring vocalist Vidu. Medha Manjunath at BSS Vidyodaya in Krishnamurthypuram on Dec. 20 from 6 pm onwards.

She will be accompanied by Vid. Vedagnya Narasimha on violin, Vid. Sunil Subramanya on mridanga and Vid. Sharath Koushik on ghata.

Profile

Vidu. Medha Manjunath, a gifted Karnatak vocalist originally from Mysuru, began her training under her mother, Meera Manjunath and later honed her artistry with Vidu. Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar and Vid. Anoor Anantha Krishna Sharma. She is a graded artiste of All India Radio and her musical excellence has earned her numerous recognitions, including the Kalashree Award, the CCRT                                                      Scholarship and the Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy Scholarship, as well as representing Karnataka in the National Balashree contest.

Medha has performed at esteemed venues such as the Madras Music Academy and Bangalore Gayana Samaja, participated in the JENESYS Youth Exchange Programme in Japan and made her international concert debut in Singapore and Malaysia in July 2024.

Alongside her performance career, she is pursuing a Ph.D in Music at Jain University and has been a music educator at the Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts under the mentorship of Dr. L. Subramaniam since 2019. Her artistic involvement also includes thematic and theatrical productions, notably her role in Vidya Sundari Bengaluru Nagarathnamma, directed by T.S. Nagabharana.
