Bharatanatyam Rangapravesha of N.S. Akshatha on Jan.20

Mysuru, Jan.18- The Bharatanatyam Rangapravesha of       N.S. Akshatha, disciple of Dr. Kripa Phadke, has been organised at Ganabharathi in Kuvempunagar here on Jan.20 at  6 pm under the aegis of Nrityagiri Academy of Performing Arts and Research Centre, Mysuru.

Vidu. Nirmala Bopanna, President, Ninada Cultural Academy, Ponnampet, Coorg, will be the guest of honour. Dr. D.A. Upadhya, Dean, Sri Allamaprabhu Lalitakala Academy   (SALA), Mysuru and Dr. K. Gopal Marathe, Associate Professor, DoS in Biochemistry, Manasagangothri, University of Mysuru, will be the chief guests.

Music Ensemble: Natuvanga – Guru Vidu. Kripa Phadke; Vocal – Vidu. Rajeshwari Pandit; Mridanga – Vid. H.L. Shivashankaraswamy; Flute – Vid. Rakesh Sudhir; Morching – Vid. Dasappa.

Profile: Akshatha is the daughter of Yashoda and eminent theatre artiste N. Srinivas (Papu), who hails from Mysuru.

At the age of six, she started her dance schooling under the guidance of Vidu. Nirmala Bopanna in Ponnampet, Coorg. She then continued her dance career with profound study and practice of art form under the able tutelage of Bharatanatyam exponent Dr. Kripa Phadke.

She has completed her Junior and Senior Grade of Bharatanatyam Exam conducted by KSEEB and is currently preparing for Vidwat Grade. Akshatha is also dedicated disciple of Karnatak Music, receiving her training from Vidu. Bhagyalakshmi and has completed her Junior Grade.

After her Primary Schooling at Govt. Primary School, Ponnampet, she continued High School at Daisy Convent and PUC in Sadvidya College and also completed Bachelor’s degree from Yuvaraja’s College in Mysuru. Currently she is pursuing her M.Sc in Biochemistry from University of Mysore.

Akshatha has actively taken part in successful presentations of Nrityagiri, such as Vande Matharam, Madagava Kenchavva, Karala Bete, Bhagavad Gita, Navadurga Vaibhava, Buddham Sharanam Gacchami, etc.

She also excels in folk dance forms of Karnataka such as Kamsale and Dollu Kunita. Akshata aims at researching the scientific aspects in Indian Classical Dance.
