Mysore/Mysuru: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology (BHIO), Mysuru, felicitated four outstanding women achievers from diverse fields for their valuable contribution towards society and womanhood.
The women achievers, who were honoured are: Rukmini Madegowda, Mayor; M.S. Geetha, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic); Dr. Pratibha Pereira, HoD of Geriatrics, JSS Hospital and Dr. Prameela, Medical Superintendent, Cheluvamba Hospital, Mysuru.
Speaking on the occasion, Rukmini Madegowda said the two words ‘Women Empowerment’ entail a deep ocean of concepts. Despite various challenges faced by women, they have achieved a good status in the enterprise sector. Since the last few years, women have successfully embossed their names in providing better services as employees, she noted.
DCP Geetha said “Women are bestowed with multi-tasking skills and possess the skill to perform their duties efficiently in any field. We should laud the multifarious roles being played by women in nation-building and underline the need for improving basic amenities for women at workplace.”
Dr. Pratibha Pereira mentioned that women too have the same power as men and both are equal.
Dr. Prameela observed that “Women should be respected by family members and also allowed to achieve in her field of interest.”
Dr. Y.S. Madhavi, Senior Radiation Oncologist, BHIO, said this honour is to celebrate the undying spirit of women.
Dr. M.S.Vishveshwara, Medical Superintendent and Chief Radiation Oncologist, said, “The world has witnessed a significant change and attitudinal shift in both women’s and society’s thoughts about women’s equality and emancipation. Women play a pivotal role in the society and their empowerment is the upliftment of our society at large.”
