Bid to sell star tortoise, deer antlers: Two arrested

Kollegal: In separate cases, the Kollegal CID Forest Mobile Squad personnel have arrested two persons who were trying to sell a live star tortoise and deer antlers and have seized the tortoise and antlers from them.

In the first case, the CID Mobile Squad personnel, who raided a spot near Saragur Bus Stand, arrested 36-year-old Fairoz Khan of Chatnahalli village in Kunigal taluk of Tumakuru district, when he was trying to sell a star tortoise and rescued the tortoise besides seizing cash from him.

In the second case, 42-year-old Manjachari of Koorgalli in the taluk was arrested while he was attempting to sell deer antlers near Naripura village in the taluk and have recovered the antlers besides seizing a mobile phone and cash from him.

The accused were produced before a Court which remanded them to judicial custody.
