Bihar man arrested for abducting, raping minor girl

Nanjangud: Nanjangud Police, on Feb. 28, have arrested a man from Bihar, for abducting a minor girl to Delhi and allegedly raping her.

The accused has been identified as 25-year-old Suresh Shahan, a native of Mirzapur in Bihar, who was working at a factory in Nanjangud Industrial Area and staying at a rented house in Nanjangud.

Suresh had kidnapped the minor girl, said to be the relative of his house owner on Nov.29, when the girl had come to attend a wedding in Nanjangud and took her to the house of his brother Dinesh in Delhi where he had raped the girl.

He later took the girl to his native place Mirzapur.

The girl somehow managed to call her father from a cell phone and Nanjangud Police, based on the phone number from which the girl had called her father and with the help of Tajpur Police, traced the girl and rescued her on Dec.8 and launched a hunt to nab Suresh who was absconding.

Following a tip off, Nanjangud Inspector Gopalakrishna, who formed a team consisting of Kavalande SI Ravikumar and staff Mahesh and Jayakumar, sent the team to Bihar, where they arrested Suresh and brought him to Nanjangud.

The accused was produced before a Magistrate, who remanded Suresh to Judicial custody.
