BJP attempting to replace the Constitution: Prakash Ambedkar

May 28, 2017

Mysuru: Accusing the BJP-led NDA government of conspiring to replace ‘Ambedkar’s Constitution with  Manuvadi   Constitution,’  Prakash Ambedkar, the grandson of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar has asked the dalits to come together to stop this.

He was speaking after inaugurating  ‘Save Constitution, Save Country’ awareness programme organised by Dalit Swabhimani Sangarsha Samithi at Kalamandira here on Friday.

Maintaining that there is a threat to the Constitution and only dalits can save it, Prakash Ambedkar said that dalits have to fight injustice done to them all alone and they must unite to stop the gimmicks played by the BJP and the RSS.

Alleging that the BJP, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to bring in a Constitution for establishing ‘Vaidika Samskruthi’, he said that Dr. Ambedkar’s Constitution was designed for all sections and communities of the society. Ruing that dalits have lost their identity, he noted that dalits joining hands with the BJP for political reasons would be a disaster for the oppressed and weaker sections of the society.

Advising the dalits to stop the sections (left and right) among them, he asked the community to stay united for fighting injustice and discrimination.

Criticising the State BJP leaders’ breakfast at dalit houses, Prakash Ambedkar argued that State BJP President B.S. Yeddyurappa had insulted dalits by having breakfast brought from hotels during his visit to the house of a dalit recently. He urged dalits not to serve even water when BJP and RSS leaders visit them.

Urilinga Peddimutt’s Jnanaprakash Swamiji, in his address, said that a society which sells itself cannot become an authoritative society.

He called upon the dalits to assert themselves and not ‘sell’ their votes during elections.

Kollegal Vishvamaitri Buddha Vihar’s Bodhiratna Bantheji, former Mayor Purushotham, Samithi President R. Mohanraj, office-bearers Basavaraj Kautal, Jyothi Vittal Vijaykumar, Jadeswami and others were present on the occasion.
