BJP fanning violence in State: CM

Mysuru:  Accusing the BJP of fanning violence in the State, Chief Minister Siddharamaiah lashed out at the BJP saying that the party always wanted to keep communal issues alive for political gains. He was speaking to press persons at Mandakalli Airport here this morning on a two-day tour of Mysuru to launch various works.

He said the BJP, which failed to build the Ram temple as promised, is now working towards keeping the issue alive.

Referring to BJP targetting former IPS Officer Kempaiah, Siddharamaiah said Kempaiah was only an Advisor to the Home Minister and not the Minister.

Reacting to the alleged corruption in the Prisons Department, the CM said he had ordered a probe into corruption in Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Jail. The Government will take necessary action based on the probe report.

Referring to the war of words between two IPS Officers of the Prisons Department, Siddharamaiah said it was not correct on the part of senior Police Officers to speak to the media. Taking exception to DIG (Prisons) D. Roopa repeatedly speaking to the media, he said that a notice has been served to the DIG.

Expressing his ire on MP Pratap Simha’s allegations that close associates of CM were behind the killing of RSS activist Sharath Madiwala, Siddharamaiah said the MP was making baseless allegations, which shows his political immaturity.

Claiming that the BJP would not return to power in the State, the CM dismissing Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s statement that the State was losing out on investments due to unrest,  said that law and order situation in the State was fine.

Referring to the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, he said that Karnataka had so far released about 5 TMC water this season to Tamil Nadu. Maintaining that the release of water was in compliance of the SC order, the CM asserted that the Congress Government was always committed to the welfare of the farming community.

Stating that the State Government has submitted a detailed report to the Centre on Mekedatu project, the CM said the Government was ready with relevant data and statistics if the Centre sought any clarification on the project. District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, Water Resources Minister M.B. Patil, MP R. Dhruvanarayan, MyLac Chairman H.A. Venkatesh, MUDA Chairman D. Dhruvakumar, KEA Chairman Siddaraju, DC D. Randeep and other officials were present.
