Mysuru: As part of the nationwide ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha’ organised by the BJP to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public leadership, the BJP Mysuru City and District units held a ‘Seva Jyothi Yathre’ at Rajendra Kalamandira in the city this morning.

Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar inaugurated the programme by offering floral tributes to portraits of Bharat Mata, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, regarded as the Founders of the BJP.

Later, party workers and leaders watched Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation, which was relayed live on a large LED screen.

In his virtual address, PM Modi thanked party volunteers and workers and spoke about a series of goals, including making India a developed nation by 2047, becoming one of the world’s top three economies, hosting the Olympics, emerging as a major manufacturing hub and pursuing a human space programme.

Calling for renewed energy among Indians, Modi coined the slogan ‘We will do it’, which was repeated by party leaders and workers  across the country.

Following the address, BJP leaders and workers took out the ‘Seva Jyothi Yathre’, carrying flaming torches from Rajendra Kalamandira on Ramanuja Road to Jaganmohan Palace. The procession passed through Agrahara Circle and the Mysuru City Corporation.

It may be recalled that before becoming Prime Minister, Narendra Modi was sworn in as the 14th Chief Minister of Gujarat on Oct. 7, 2001, succeeding Keshubhai Patel.
