Mysuru: The Ramanuja Road leading to the Rajendra Kalamandira where the State BJP Executive Committee meeting began here this morning was abuzz with activity. Apart from media persons who had gathered at the junction of Ramanuja Road and MG Road, a few people were waiting to have a glimpse of the leaders who were arriving in cars to the venue.
There was tight security as only the leaders and the BJP party workers were being allowed inside. It was still early in the morning and there was former Minister S.A. Ramdas and District Co-operative Union President H.V. Rajeev seen welcoming the people.
Ramdas said that nearly 686 people would participate in the meeting which included a few Union Ministers, MPs, State leaders, District in-Charge Presidents and Secretaries, ex-MLC, ex-MLAs, former Ministers apart from the Executive Members and special invitees.
The first such meet was held in 1997 in the city at the same venue and he was in-charge of organising that State-level meet, Ramdas recalled.
There were three people dressed in the traditional Mysuru Durbar dress with the famous Mysuru Peta and long coat and all the three were from the Ursu community. “We are party workers and we want to welcome the leaders and others with the traditional Mysuru flavour,” said Abhinda Urs, Harish Urs and Palaksha Raje Urs.
As one entered the hall, to the left were posters of all the new programmes like the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Beti Bachao Beti Padao, Saksham Kisan, Samridh Bharat, Make in India, Digital India, Accessible India, Empowered India, to name a few, were seen. On the right side was the large picture of Bharat Maata.
On the stage was a huge LCD screen and a few videos of the beginning of the BJP were being screened even as those entering the hall were seen greeting one another. The photos of Syama Prasad Mukherjee, Bharat Maata and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya with garlands were placed on the right side of the dais.
Women neatly clad in sarees were in a very jovial mood as they posed for photographs with the leader Shoba Karandlaje, with the backdrop of the stage.
Martyrs names
Meanwhile, MP Shobha Karandlaje, who was busy overseeing the arrangements, was found trying to know the names of the martyrs who were recently killed and their bodies mutilated by the Pakistani army and a few from the BJP media cell were seen scrambling to get the names of the yodhas.
One of the party members anxiously told this writer, “the only interest in the meet for all of us is, whether the feud between the two leaders will end,” and “I am sure it will be resolved.”
