Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court (HC), which accepted a petition filed by defeated BJP candidate Raghu R. Kautilya, on Monday issued summons to Congress MLC Dr. D. Thimmaiah and JD(S) MLC C.N. Manjegowda.
Raghu had filed the petition questioning the election of the two MLCs in the Legislative Council polls from the twin-member Mysuru-Chamarajanagar seat held in December last.
Raghu contended that Congress candidate Dr. Thimmaiah and JD(S) candidate Manjegowda had not submitted details of their assets and also about any cases that were pending against them in Courts. Raghu had also claimed that the non-submission of asset details was a big lapse on the part of the two candidates and he had complained about this to the Electoral Officer then itself, but to no avail. He also sought disqualification of the two MLCs on these grounds and declare him (Raghu) as elected.
The High Court, which heard Raghu Kautilya’s petition, issued summons to the two victorious candidates and posted the next hearing in the case to June 27, it is learnt.
