Mysuru: The fourth day of Dasara cultural programmes at Mysore Palace premises last evening offered audiences a different musical experience, with the ‘DoReMi Live Band’ leading a spectacular classical fusion performance.

The presentation blended Indian classical music with modern sounds, featuring instruments such as the sitar, flute, tabla, pakhawaj, barrel drum, keyboard, harmonium and guitar, along with percussion.

Vivek Sonar on flute, singer Jayanti Goshar with her rendition of ‘Madhura Raga Vachaspati,’ and the accompanying guitar brought out different dimensions of music.

Artiste Taufiq Qureshi captivated the audience with ‘Jambe Vadana’, showcasing his skill on the djembe, a goblet-shaped hand drum. The performance drew enthusiastic applause and whistles from the gathering.

Musician Ravichari on sitar, Ojus Adhiya on tabla and Atul Raniga on keyboard presented a composition built around cyclic rhythms, holding the audience’s attention. They were accompanied by Sukad Munde on pakhawaj and Ravi Jule on harmonium.

Lavesh Savardekar’s rhythmic percussion performance drew thunderous applause. The concert brought together the varied talents of the singers and instrumentalists in a rich blend of melodies and rhythmic patterns.

Earlier, Siddu Uppaladinni Jamkhandi and his team presented ‘Karadi Majalu,’ a traditional folk music ensemble originating in North Karnataka. The Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Cultural Trust, along with B. Kavitha Kamath and her team, presented a Sugama Sangeetha concert, while Raghunandan and his team performed classical music.

Series of devotional songs

Before the musical performances, devotional songs rendered by Sivasri Skandaprasad set a spiritual tone for the evening. Sivasri, wife of BJP MP Tejasvi Surya, presented a series of devotional songs under the theme ‘Naama Sankirtana,’ invoking divine grace through her melodious voice. Her renditions included ‘Jaya Jaya Durge… Narayana Sodari Paranande…,’ in praise of Goddess Durga; ‘Gangadhara Shankara Karunakara… Shiva Shambho Swayambho…’ and ‘Vanamali Vasudeva… Jaganmohana Radha Ramana…,’ among other devotional compositions.

At the request of MLC R. Raghu Kautilya, she concluded with the evergreen Kannada song ‘Poojisalende Hoogala Tande…,’ sung by S. Janaki, drawing another round of applause.

The evening also featured light music, classical music and dance performances that held the audience’s attention. The finale was a dance-drama titled ‘Dasha Vidyarupaka’, presented by Mandya’s Gurudev Academy of Fine Arts.
