August 21, 2017

Mysuru: The body of a youth, who was swept away in Varuna Canal, when he went for a swim on Saturday, was fished out near Yandalli village last evening.

The deceased youth, identified as Manoj (20), a resident of R.S. Naidu Nagar here, had gone for a swim along with his friends to Varuna Canal  near Kesare here.

As water was released to the Canal about two days ago, water was flowing with full force in the Canal and his friends decided not to venture into the waters. But Manoj ventured into the water and was swept away. His panicked friends informed the matter to his family members, who in turn reported the matter to N.R. Police, who rushed to the Canal to fish out the body but in vain.

As it turned dark, the operation was stalled which was resumed the next morning. After searching for the body for hours, the Police found the body near Yandalli village in the taluk later in the evening.

N.R. Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
