Mandya: A boiler at a sugar factory in Maddur taluk burst late last night. However, no casualties or injuries were reported.
The boiler blast took place at NSL Sugar Factory at Koppa in the taluk and due to the intensity of the blast, the compound wall of the sugar factory crumbled.
A major disaster was averted as there were a few employees in the factory at the time of the blast and none of them were injured, it is learnt.
However, following the blast that resulted in the collapse of the compound, the boiler water is said to have gushed into adjoining fields destroying crops in over 10 acres of land.
The jurisdictional Koppa Police have registered a case in this regard.
