Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysore Orthopaedic Association (MOA), in association with Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI), observed Bone and Joint Day at a function organised at PKTCC Auditorium in city recently.
The Day was observed with the theme ‘Elderly Care: Prevention and Treatment of Fractures in the Elderly,’ advocated by the Indian Orthopaedic Association (IOA). MMC&RI Dean & Director Dr. K.R. Dakshayani was the chief guest. Senior Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. K. Mahadev, Physician Dr. H. Sunil and Tanuja were present at guests of honour.
The event aimed to create awareness on the growing burden of fragility fractures among the elderly and the need for preventive care.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasised on the critical role of early diagnosis, community outreach and rehabilitation in enhancing the quality of life of elderly citizens.
As part of the week-long elderly care initiatives, Bone Mineral Density (BMD) camps for early detection of Osteoporosis, Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions on geriatric orthopaedic care, visits to old age homes, free elderly care clinics are being held. MMC&RI Professor & HoD of Orthopaedics and MOA President Dr. Shobha, Nodal Officer Dr. Neelan Gowda Patil, Dr. Prashanth, MOA Secretary Dr. S.R. Anand & Treasurer Dr. M.K. Deepak were present.
