Book on former PM Deve Gowda to be released tomorrow

February 9, 2018

Mysuru: The book on former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda titled ‘Sadaneya Shikhararohana’ encapsulating his ten months and ten days as Prime Minister of the country will be released tomorrow (Feb.10), said former Vice Chancellor of University of Mysore and JD(S) leader Prof. K.S. Rangappa.

Addressing a press conference at a private hotel in city this morning, he said that the book will be released at a function organised at Senate Bhavan in Manasagangothri at 4.30 pm in the presence of Deve Gowda.

Adichunchanagiri Seer Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji will release the book. Former Vice Chancellor of Goa and Mangalore Universities Prof. B. Sheik Ali will preside. Authors of the book Prof. C. Naganna and Prof. Pradhan Gurudatta will be present.

The book was released in Bengaluru recently. However, the revised edition of the book with the number of pages increased from 380 to 400 will be released tomorrow.

“The earlier version did not carry the achievements of Deve Gowda as the Chief Minister though it covered his stint as the Prime Minister. Hence, a revised and enlarged version is being released tomorrow,” said Prof. Rangappa.

One of the authors, Prof. Pradhan Gurudatta sharing his experience while penning the book, said that Deve Gowda had extraordinary memory power. “The former PM could recall each and every instance and anecdote of his ten months and ten days in office.  When we corroborated it with his private secretary and secretaries, they said that 99 per cent of what was narrated by the former PM was correct. He is indeed a very rare person,” said Prof. Gurudatta. Former Mayor Lingappa, Deputy Mayor Indira, Corporators  K.T. Cheluvegowda, S.B.M. Manju, K.V. Mallesh and Ashvini were present.
