Mysore/Mysuru: District Sharana Sahitya Parishat in association with Zilla Jagatika Lingayat Mahasabha had organised a book release programme at Sri Nataraja Auditorium, Shankar Mutt road here recently. A book on life and achievements of senior artist Mannuru Gurappa penned by senior artist and writer L. Shivalingappa was released.

Speaking after releasing the book, Director of Oriental Research Institute, University of Mysore, Dr. S. Shivarajappa said, “Mannuru Gurappa was one of the great artists of our times. He had adopted principles propagated by Basava in his personal life, which everyone in this country should follow without fail. He used to fight against social evils through his art works. His life and achievements are certainly an ideal for today’s youth.”

Hosmutt Seer Sri Chidananda Swamiji, senior writer S.T. Shailaja, senior artist N.B. Kaverappa, Sharana Sahitya Parishat President M. Chandrashekhar, Zilla Jagatika Lingayat Mahasabha President M. Mahadevappa, Secretary Marappa and District Kannada Sahitya Parishat former President Maddikere Gopal were present.
