Boy drowns after falling into water sump

Mysuru: A five-year-old boy drowned after falling into a water sump at Ahalya village in Nanjangud taluk yesterday night.

The deceased boy is Mithin (5), son of Beerappa and Shashikala couple, residents of Ahalya village.

Yesterday night, Mithin went near the water sump at the backside of the house to park his bicycle. As it was dark, he was unable to notice the cover of the sump open and fell into it and was drowned.

As Mithin did not come into the house, his family members searched for him and found him in an unconscious state inside the sump. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Mysuru where the doctors declared him brought dead. No case has been registered in this regard.
