‘I have not come here to receive your congratulations, I have come here to receive your blessings’
Mysuru: K.R. MLA and former Minister S.A. Ramdas was felicitated by Brahmana Dharma Sahaya Sabha at a programme organised at Kalyana Bhavana on Tyagaraja Road in city on Friday.
Speaking after being feted, Ramdas said ‘I have not come here to receive your congratulations. I have come here to receive your blessings’.
He also stated that he had come for the programme out of affection for the community members who had whole-heartedly supported him in Assembly polls.
Pointing out that he had allotted Ashraya houses for 826 poor Brahmin families, Ramdas said that there were 12 Brahmin legislators in the current Assembly, three more than the previous one.
Noting that he was the first Brahmin to have been District in-charge Minister when he was a Minister in the BJP government, Ramdas thanked the voters of the Constituency for turning up at the polling booth in large numbers.
Brahmana Dharma Sahaya Sabha President N. Srinivas thanked Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy for announcing formation of Brahmin Development Board with Rs. 25 crore funding in the Budget. He also welcomed the government’s decision to celebrate Shankaracharya Jayanti.
Sri Ilai Alwar Swamiji graced the occasion. Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Mahasabha District Unit President D.T. Prakash, Muzarai Tahsildar Yathiraj Sampath Kumaran, Sabha office-bearers M. Manjunath, N.Y. Vishwanath, Dr. J. Kamala Raman, Ananthu, Satish, Balasubramanyam and others were present.
