Brahmin outfit to hold rally in Bengaluru on Feb. 24, 25

Mysuru:  The Akhila Karnataka Brahmin Mahasabha (AKBMS) will hold a two-day rally at Bengaluru on Feb. 24 and 25.

Announcing this at a press meet here yesterday, Mysuru City and District Brahmin Association President D.T. Prakash said that the rally is aimed at highlighting the plight of the community and to demand reservation for economically weaker sections of the community.

Stating that the rally will take place at National College Ground in Basavanagudi, he said that the rally will provide a platform to discuss community issues and added that the Association has contracted more than 40 buses to take people to the rally. State AKBMS Vice-President and BJP leader H.V. Rajeev, who also address the press meet, said that the rally will discuss various issues concerning Brahmin community and will pass resolution, which includes reservation for economically weak community members and setting up of a community welfare fund like in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

AKBMS office-bearers G.R. Nagaraj, Mahadev and Gopal were present at the press meet.

More than 500 Brahmin youth from city to take part in rally: More  than 500 Brahmin youths from the city will leave for Bengaluru rally by train on the morning of Feb. 25, according to Brahmin Yuva Vedike General Secretary Vikram Iyengar.

The youths will take part in the Shobhayatre at 3 pm, which travels through Doddaganapathi  Temple, Ramakrishna Ashram Circles, Gandhi Bazaar, DVG Road, Shankar Mutt and Uttaradi Mutt road before reaching Basavanagudi National College ground, the venue of the rally.
