Brahmin Yuva vedike seeks constitution of delegation of community leaders

September 13, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: Urging the Government to constitute  a delegation comprising Brahmin community leaders, people representatives and legal experts in order to ensure that Government benefits reach the community members, city’s Brahmin Yuva Vedike submitted a memorandum in this regard to Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Mahasabha President Ashok Haranahalli here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Vedike Organising Secretary Ajay Shastri said that the Union Government has announced ten percent reservation for the poor from upper castes. But this scheme is yet to be implemented in Karnataka and as such the poor from upper castes are deprived of reservation  benefits. This apart, Brahmin community members are finding it difficult to get caste certificates and the initiatives of the Brahmin Development Board are yet to reach the targeted beneficiaries, he maintained.

Demanding  the Government to accord Medical Insurance cover to  those who have crossed 50 years of age, Shastri also appealed for issuing  lifetime caste certificates to Brahmin community members. MP Pratap Simha, former MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev, Mysuru City and District Brahmin Association President D.T. Prakash and others were present.
