November 5, 2026

Mysuru: A KSRTC bus en route to Somanathapura Layout, rammed into a car and later hit the traffic signal light pole at Ramaswamy Circle following brake failure on Tuesday.

The KSRTC bus Route No. 69 (KA-01-F-9487), which left KSRTC City Bus Stand to Somanathapura Layout, was proceeding near Ramaswamy Circle when it hit a car and then rammed into a traffic signal light pole, before coming to a standstill. Luckily, no injuries or loss of lives took place. As the bus and car driver settled issue amicably, no complaint or case was registered, KR Traffic Police said.

The bus driver, in his statement on social media, has said that when he drove the bus from Chamaraja Double Road and took a turn at Ramaswamy Circle, the brakes failed and in a bid to avoid hitting a boy, he steered the bus towards his left resulting in the accident.

Meanwhile, public has alleged that KSRTC buses are not being maintained regularly due to fund crunch resulting in such accidents taking place daily.
