Bribe to dispatch pension file: Treasury staff in ACB net

Madikeri: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Police have trapped the caseworker at the Madikeri District Treasury while accepting bribe to dispatch the pension file of a retired Survey Superintendent.

The Treasury staff, who was trapped, is M.A. Ravikumar. He had demanded bribe from retired Survey Superintendent M.M. Lokanath.

Lokanath, who retired on Apr. 30 at Kushalnagar, met Ravikumar on July 13 and 16 and urged him to dispatch his pension file for which Ravikumar demanded a bribe of Rs. 7,000 for the same and later settled for Rs. 5,000.

Meanwhile, Lokanath lodged a complaint with ACB Police, who decided to trap the Treasury staff and caught Ravikumar red-handed while he was receiving Rs. 5,000 at the District Treasury Office premises.

ACB (Southern Range) SP Sajith and Kodagu ACB Dy.SP K. Rajendra guided Inspector Kumar and staff Vasantha, Sajjan, Lohit, Praveen Kumar and Deepika in the operation.
