Bribe to sanction agri pond grant: Two Taluk Officers trapped by ACB while accepting money

Mysore/Mysuru: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Police have caught two Taluk Officials red-handed while they were accepting bribe to sanction money for construction of an agricultural pond. 

The officials, who were caught are K.R. Nagar Taluk Panchayat Assistant Engineer (Technical) Anjana and Ankanahalli Village Panchayat Development Officer Ramaswamy. They were caught while receiving the bribe of Rs. 4,000 each.

One Venkatesh, son of Hongaiah of Shabalu village of Mirle hobli in the taluk, had got an agricultural pond dug up in his field and had submitted an application for sanctioning the grant provided by the Government. But Anjana and Ramaswamy had demanded Rs. 4,000 each to sanction the fund, following which Venkatesh lodged a complaint at the ACB SP’s Office on July 31.

ACB Police, who had registered a case, laid a trap yesterday morning, raided both the places and caught Anjana and Ramaswamy red-handed following which they were arrested.

ACB SP Arunamshugiri and Dy.SP Parashuramappa guided Inspectors Karim Rawther and Mohan Krishna and staff Guruprasad, Nagesh, Papanna, Manjunath, Chethan, Mahadevaswamy, Pushpalatha, Nagalakshmi, Mahadevaswamy and others in the operation.
