Brother-sister killed in road accident

Periyapatna:  A brother and his sister, who had sustained serious injuries when a lorry rammed into their bike on which they were riding, died at a private hospital late last night.

The deceased have been identified as Amoghavarsha (18) and his sister Amruthavarshini (14), children of Goralli Jagadish, President of Taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat and a resident of Goralli village in the taluk.

The two were coming from Bettadapura village on their bike when a lorry hit them in front of a private school at about 7.30 pm yesterday, resulting in them suffering serious injuries and admitted to a private hospital where they breathed their last.

Amoghavarsha had got himself admitted for 1st year B.Sc course at a private college in Hunsur just three days ago and Amruthavarshini was studying in 9th standard at S.M.S. School in Bettadapura.

Bettadapura Sub-Inspector Chikkaswamy, who has registered a case, has seized the lorry and is investigating.
