November 17, 2023

Bylakuppe: A Tibetan Buddhist Monk was killed when a vehicle rammed into a parked auto near the weigh bridge on Bylakuppe-Periyapatna Main Road on Nov. 14.

The deceased Monk has been identified as Tenzin Naymagal, who was residing at the Tibetan Camp at Bylakuppe. Tenzin, along with another Monk Ayash Negi, who had been to Koppa village were returning to the camp when they asked the autorickshaw driver to stop on the roadside as they wanted to fetch food.

When the driver parked the autorickshaw on the roadside, Negi went to the hotel to fetch food while Tenzin was seated in the auto. Meanwhile, a speeding Bolero vehicle (KA-21-N-4680), which came from Kushalnagar side, rammed into the auto and also hit a truck. This resulted in Tenzin getting killed and the autorickshaw driver Harish, Bolero driver and a woman in the Bolero vehicle sustaining injuries.
