Budding painters show their talent at JSS Camp

April 28, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: The 20-day painting camp, organised by JSS Mahavidyapeetha concluded successfully at Rajendra Bhavan, near JSS Hospital on M.G. Road in city recently.

In his address, B.A. Rajashekar, Director of School Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha told the participants of the camp, “Painting leads to personality development of children, as the very form of art has its roots in apes (primitive man), for whom it was a medium of expression. The apes were earlier using natural colours and were drawing on rocks, as per available records.”

The technology has made it possible to draw painting either on a sheet, wall, glass, tree or any other articles. The Digital Painting has thrown a challenge to creative world. In this situation, if children practice drawing, it will help in shaping their personality, said Rajashekar.

Senior artist Basavaraj Musavalagi said “Painting helps in the expansion of creativity, while the use of  colours, lines and brush improves concentration. Children should practice whatever they learnt in the camp in their life, as the form of art could not be just a hobby, but also make way for livelihood.  Nobody should forget that the paintings of reputed artists are sold for crores of rupees. Passion turns into profession and nurtures life.’

Drawing Teachers N.B. Palleda, P.S. Salabannanavar, Alla Sab Gadad, Venkataraju,                     Nagarajappa, B.M. Kerur and Nagendra were felicitated on the occasion.

Students who came out with best paintings — Monisha, Shrutakeerthi, Suchitra, Abhinand, Pranav, N.V. Harshini, B. Likitha, Harshita and Iva Leon — were given cash prizes.

Journalist K. Narasimha Murthy , Convener of the camp S. M. Jambukeshwar were present.
