JSS commemorates World Health Day with health camp for staff

Mysore/Mysuru: The Department of Community Medicine, JSS Medical College, JSS AHER, Mysuru, had organised a health camp on Apr. 25 at Sri Rajendra Auditorium, JSS Medical College in city to mark 75th World Health Day (Theme: Health for All) and promote regular health check-ups for its staff.

The health camp aimed at providing comprehensive health assessments to staff, including measuring height, weight, BMI, waist to hip ratio, blood pressure, haemoglobin, blood sugar and ECG.

Dr. B. Manjunatha, Registrar of JSS AHER, who was the chief guest,  inaugurated the programme and emphasised the significance of the event’s theme and also the importance of regular health check-ups to achieve a healthier community.

Dr. H. Basavana Gowdappa, Principal of JSS Medical College, was the guest of honour. He appreciated the initiative and urged all staff to make use of the health camp and follow up on any diagnosed issues to maintain their health.

S.R. Sathish Chandra, Administrative Officer; Dr. M.N. Suma, Vice-Principal (Pre-Clinical); Dr. Praveen Kulkarni, Vice-Principal (Para-Clinical); Dr. G.V. Manjunath, Deputy Director of JSS Hospital and Dr. Chandrakanth, Head, Department of Forensic Medicine, were also present.

About 260 staff, including doctors, administrative staff, security guards, general workers and hostel mess workers, benefited from the health camp. On the doctor’s advice, ECG was performed on 27 people and three were found to have abnormalities. Six were newly diagnosed as hypertensive, 8 as diabetic and 49 to be anaemic, with the majority being females. They were referred to JSS Hospital and advised for follow up.         The event was organised by Dr. D. Sunil Kumar, Head, Department of Community Medicine and Dr. M. Shwethashree, Assistant Professor of the Department, along with the staff, post-graduates and interns who provided service to participants.
