Burglars arrested: Two-wheelers, gold ornaments recovered

Mysuru, Sept.1 (SPN&KS)- Udayagiri Police have arrested three persons on charges of stealing gold jewellery and hundis at temples and also lifting two-wheelers at various districts in the State and have recovered three two-wheelers, 15 grams gold jewellery, three two-wheelers and Rs.5,750 cash from them.

The arrested are 24-year-old Jaffar Sadiq of Baragur Handpost in Hassan district, 25-year-old Mohammed Rafiq of Chinakurali and 32-year-old Mahadevapura, both in Mandya district.

The accused were arrested on Aug.29 near Siddapaji Temple in Rajivnagar, while they were planning to commit robbery.

During interrogation, the accused are said to have told the Police that they had committed burglaries at temples, shops and lifted two-wheelers at various places in Mysuru, Mandya and Tumakuru. Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered 15 grams gold ornaments, three two-wheelers, Rs.5,750 cash stolen from temple hundis, a LPG gas stove and cylinder, vessels and iron rods and screw drivers, all worth about Rs.2 lakh from them.

Following the arrest, the Police have solved three cases in Udayagiri, five in Melukote, two in K.R. Pet and one case each in Pandavapura, Shira and Krishnaraja Police Stations.

DCP B.T. Kavitha and Devaraja Sub-Division ACP G.S. Gajendra Prasad, supervised Udayagiri Inspector P.P. Santosh, SI M. Jaikeerthi, Probationary SI T.S. Mahendra, ASI P. Siddaraju and staff Babu, Shankar, Divakar, Siddiq Ahmed, Krishna, Manjunath, Mohan Kumar, Bheemavva Kaalavada and Malathi took part in the nabbing and recovery operation.
