Bus catches fire after fatally knocking down bike riders

Hassan: A KSRTC bus caught fire after fatally knocking down two riders near Bediganahalli Circle at Channarayapatna taluk in Hassan district yesterday.

The KSRTC bus hit the bike which was coming from Bengaluru side from behind, killing the two riders on the spot before the bus caught fire. The bus driver immediately stopped the bus on the road and as soon as the passengers alighted and fled to a safe distance, fire engulfed the bus. Luckily, no passengers were injured and the Fire and Emergence Services personnel, who rushed to the spot, extinguished the fire.

Police, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar, shifted the bodies to Channarayapatna Taluk Hospital. Channarayapatna City Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
