Mysuru: BuildTech Seminar, the annual flagship event organised by the Mysore Centre of the Builders’ Association of India (BAI), has entered its 25th year and will be held on Sept. 18 and 19 at MBCT Auditorium, Akkamahadevi Road, Mysuru.
Eminent civil and earthquake engineer Dr. C.V.R. Murthy will inaugurate the silver jubilee edition — BuildTech 26 — on ‘Resilient Infrastructure & Sustainable Design’ at 10 am tomorrow.
He will also deliver the keynote address on ‘Value of Sustainable Infrastructure and Cost of Resilient Infrastructure.’
Dr. Murthy, an alumnus of IIT Madras, has Ph.D in Structural and Earthquake Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech).
He is a leading authority on earthquake engineering and seismic safety in India, with extensive expertise in resilient structural design and earthquake-resistant construction.
The organising committee, headed by H.S. Deepak, has brought together a galaxy of eminent speakers from across the country to address the seminar.
Dr. Sudhirkumar Barai, Director, BITS Pilani, Rajasthan, will speak on ‘Understanding Recycled Aggregate Concrete through the Lens of Machine Learning.’

Barai was Dean and Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Kharagpur and has held fellowships and visiting positions at Tel Aviv University, University of Canterbury (New Zealand), Carnegie Mellon University and the National University of Singapore.
Jay Shah, architect, entrepreneur, AI innovator and Founder-CEO of Kaizer AI, Mumbai, will speak on ‘Building Better for Less: Global Case Studies in AI-led Real Estate Optimisation.’
He holds an MS in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation and has participated in Harvard Business School’s Owner/President Management programme. He is a sought-after speaker on AI and PropTech.
Dr. Saibaba Ankala, retd. Civil Engineer and Project Head, Indian Railways, will speak on Global Trends in Sustainable Design of Long-span Bridges.
He headed a Rs. 10,000-crore ultra-mega railway project involving more than 45 tunnels and 125 bridges in hills of north-east India and has also led major bridge, metrorail and flyover projects. He continues as an advisor.
Dr. Abhay Gupta, Director, Skeleton Consultant, Noida, will speak on ‘Use of New and Innovative Technologies for Rapid Mass Housing leading to Sustainable Development.’
He holds a Ph.D from the University of Roorkee and is associated with landmark structures including the 351-foot Shiva statue at Nathdwara in Rajasthan and India’s tallest bungee-jumping tower at Shivpuri, Rishikesh.
Jayesh Vijay Jadhav, DGM, Operations, Hydel & Tunnel Business L&T, will address the seminar on ‘Digitisation, Innovation and Enhanced Safety for Tunnelling Projects in India.’
He has held key leadership positions in Project Control, operations, strategic asset management, capital budgeting, procurement, project planning, maintenance management, digital transformation and process improvement.
Dr. Deepankar Chowdhry, Professor of Civil Engineering, IIT Bombay, will speak on ‘Geotechnical Challenges and Solutions towards Sustainable Foundation Design for Tall Buildings and Mega Infrastructures.’
He holds Master’s and doctoral degrees in Civil Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering from IISc Bangalore and serves on key disaster-resilience and high-rise committees in Maharashtra.
Dr. N. Ranganath, Chairman, MD, EI Technologies, will enlighten the seminar on ‘Mekedatu Balancing Reservoir across the river Cauvery – A sustainable solution for meeting Bangalore’s future drinking water needs.’’
Ranganath has a Master’s degree in Geotech and doctorate on ‘Renewable Energy – Solar’ from Pandit Deendayal Energy University, Gujarat. He and his team provide engineering solutions to critical projects in the fields of Renewable Energy, Oil & Gas, Water Resources.
