Bengaluru: The Karnataka Cabinet has decided to constitute a Cabinet Sub-Committee to re-evaluate the long-disputed Bengaluru-Mysuru Infrastructure Corridor Project (BMICP), Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil announced.
The Sub-Committee will examine whether the Government should continue with the project, originally implemented by former MLA Ashok Kheny’s Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE).
So far, 1,699 acres have been acquired for the project. Given that NICE has taken the matter to the High Court and Supreme Court, Patil said a thorough review of the technical, legal and financial aspects is necessary. The Sub-Committee is expected to submit its findings within 2 to 3 months. It will also revisit reports from previous Cabinet Sub-Committees.
Public Accounts Committee (PAC), House Committee, legislative debates, and hundreds of affidavits filed with the Supreme Court, he added. The Chief Minister has been authorised to constitute the panel.
