Calicut Food Festival from Nov. 17 to 26

November 16, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysouth Restaurant, the popular destination for authentic South Indian cuisine, has announced Calicut Calling, a 10-day culinary extravaganza that will showcase the rich and diverse flavours of the Malabar region.

The festival will be held from Nov. 17 to 26 at Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in Mysuru and will feature a specially curated menu by Master Chef Mithun, a renowned chef from Kerala, who has worked in prestigious hotels and restaurants across India and abroad.

Calicut Food Festival will offer a variety of dishes from Malabar region, which is famous for its seafood, spices, coconut and rice. Menu includes Chemeen Manga Kootan, Malabar Kozhi Biryani, Kappa Kuzha, Pathiri, Kozhikodan Halwa, Neyappam, Sulaimani Chai, Pathiri, Fish Curry and Pazham Pori.

“I am very excited to present ‘Calicut Calling’ to the food lovers of Mysuru. I have tried to capture the essence of the Malabar cuisine, which is a blend of local and international influences. The guests will surely enjoy the taste and aroma of these dishes, which are prepared with fresh ingredients and traditional methods,” says Master Chef Mithun.

This is not just a celebration of food, but also a tribute to the culture of Kozhikode, also known as Calicut, the food capital of Kerala. Kozhikode was dubbed the “City of Spices” for its role as the major trading point of eastern spices during the Middle Ages. The port at Kozhikode acted as the gateway to medieval South Indian coast for the Chinese, the Persians, the Arabs and finally the Europeans.

The city’s culinary heritage is largely the result of foreign influences, as well as the migration of people from different parts of India and Kerala. The city is home to a variety of cuisines, such as Mappila, Anglo-Indian, French and Gujarati, each with its own distinctive dishes and flavours.

So, don’t miss this opportunity to savour the exquisite specialties of Malabar at Mysouth Restaurant located in Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel.
