Mysuru: The University of Mysore (UoM) under its DST PURSE programme has arranged a special lecture by Prof. Martin Welch on the topic “Living off the fat of the land – The link between virulence and metabolism in the opportunistic human pathogen, Pseudomonas aeruginosa” on Sept. 20 at 11.30 am Bahadur Institute of Management Auditorium in Manasagangothri.
Profile: Dr. Martin Welch is currently at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Cambridge. His area of expertise is the functional genomic analysis of pathogenic bacteria and understanding regulation of virulence and biofilm formation by pathogenic bacteria.
Dr. Welch completed his B.A and M.A. in Biochemistry from Oxford University. He went on to pursue his Ph.D. on “The Molecular Mechanism of Switching of the Bacterial Flagellar Motor” from the Department of Membrane Research and Biophysics at The Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel under the supervision of Prof. Michael Eisenbach.
