Just as the countdown for the Apr.9 Nanjangud by-poll has begun, leaders from the ruling Congress and Opposition BJP have stepped up campaigning across the constituency.
Former CM and State BJP President B.S. Yeddyurappa campaigned at Kattawadipura, Kanakanagara and industrial area of the constituency this morning, seeking votes for the party candidate V. Sreenivasa Prasad.
Yeddyurappa’s son, Shivamogga MP B.Y. Raghavendra, accompanied by former Minister Kumar Bangarappa, conducted door-to-door campaign at Handuvinahalli.
Social Welfare Minister H. Anjaneya held a door-to-door campaign at Ashokapuram Layout in the town, seeking votes for Congress candidate Kalale Keshavamurthy. Chamarajanagar Congress MP R. Dhruvanarayan visited several villages of the constituency, seeking votes for the Congress candidate.
Even as several Congress leaders were on a campaign trail across the constituency, KPCC President and Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara held a meeting with the party works at the town Congress Office. Dr. Parameshwara sought details about the party’s by-poll campaign on a day-to-day basis and discussed further strategies to be adopted for ensuring the victory of party candidate Kalale Keshavarmuthy.
KPCC Working President Dinesh Gundu Rao too attended the meeting. Meanwhile, several top BJP leaders including BSY, MP Shobha Karandlaje, Opposition leader Jagadish Shettar, former Ministers V. Somanna, C.M. Udasi and others took part in the ‘Guruvandana’ programme organised by Krantikaari Veerashaiva Balaga to mark the 110th birthday celebration of Siddaganga Mutt Seer Dr. Sri Shivakumara Swamiji at Yatri Bhavan on Ooty Road in Nanjangud town.
After attending the programme, Opposition leader Jagadish Shettar undertook extensive campaigning at Handuvinahalli.
