Can we have a flawless widening of Vivekananda Circle-Srirampura Road

Sir,

I refer to the interesting article by V.N. Prasad in SOM dated 4.1.2017. The suggestion made by the author is very much necessary lest the public money goes to drain in the absence of quality control.

It seems Prasad has not taken into consideration two more critical issues associated with widening and improving the road which needs to be resolved.

Firstly, the widening of the road may hit a road block at the point of Welcome Arch constructed which is sure to become accident-prone spot unless it is demolished. Of course, sentiments may run high against the demolition. Despite the widening and development of the road making news since last 2 years, for best known reasons the BEML Housing Society has ventured for construction of the Arch with the concerned authorities thoughtlessly granting permission for the said act. I had raised this issue during the construction stage itself.

Secondly, the road leads to blind end at the Lingambudhi Road junction which connects to the Manandavadi Road. Upon widening of the road up to this point and leaving the narrow road further up to the Mandavadi Road makes no sense unless this stretch is also developed and made a link road from the Vivekananda Circle to Manandavadi Road junction. MUDA must think on this issue very seriously.
