Cane growers stage rasta-roko on Mysuru-Nanjangud Road

December 14, 2018

Mysuru: Seeking fulfilment of their demands, farmers under the banner of Karnataka Sugarcane Growers Association (KSGA) staged a rasta-roko on Ring Road junction near APMC Yard on Mysuru-Nanjangud Road yesterday.

Their demands included cut in cane transportation costs, announcement of ex-field price,  FRP (Fair and Remunerative Price) instead of unscientific ex-gate price, payment of arrears and a share in cane by-products among others.

The irate farmers blocked the road for about 20 minutes, before the jurisdictional Vidyaranyapuram Police took them into custody and released them later.

Traffic on the busy road was disrupted up for sometime on account of rasta-roko. Association office-bearers Attahalli Devaraj, Bhagyaraj, Krishnegowda, P. Somashekar and others took part.
