Capacity-building for holistic development of teachers

Mysuru: A UGC- sponsored one-day workshop on ‘Capacity-building for teachers’ was organised by JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, B.N. Road, Mysuru recently.

The programme was inaugurated by Prof. S. Srikantaswamy, Director, College Development Council, University of Mysore. In his inaugural address, he mentioned that if the teachers at higher level of education are qualified and experienced in teaching, learning and research, they can contribute to qualitative education. This also leads to their overall personality development as well as increases the dignity of educational institutions. Social responsibilities of educational institutions call for conducting such workshops.

Shankarappa, Director-1, General Administration Division of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, who presided, said that teachers have to be skilful in teaching the most complicated subjects in a simple manner to reach the students successfully.  

Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, spoke about the relevance and need of such workshops in current challenging scenario. He mentioned about the significance of learning, de-learning and re-learning in the process of teaching and learning which can contribute to the development.

Vidyashree Adaginala, student of II BA, rendered invocation. Prof.M. Mahadevappa, Principal, welcomed. Organising Secretary Dr. Kumudini Achchi compered and proposed vote of thanks.
