Car carrying Police personnel plunges into canal

Pandavapura Circle Inspector, Constable sustain serious injuries

Malavalli: Pandavapura Circle Inspector Prabhakar and Constable Hemanth have sustained serious injuries as the car in which they were travelling plunged into a canal after the person behind the wheels lost control of the vehicle near Kalakempanadoddi Gate on Malavalli-Maddur Road on Monday evening.

Yesterday morning, Inspector Prabhakar, along with Constable Hemanth, had gone to Kollegal Court in his personal car (KA-08-M-6759) in connection with a case during his tenure as the Inspector of Hanur Police Station.

After completing the Court work, Inspector Prabhakar was returning in his car which was being driven by Constable Hemanth. When they neared Kalakempanadoddi Gate on Malavalli-Maddur Road, Hemanth is said to have lost control of the car, which plunged into the canal.

Passersby, who witnessed the incident, rushed to the spot and rescued the injured Inspector and the Constable, who were stuck inside the car.

An ambulance was summoned and the injured were shifted to MIMS Hospital in Mandya, where they were provided first-aid and later shifted to a private hospital in Mysuru.

It is learnt that poor visibility due to heavy rains caused the incident. Malavalli Rural Police, who rushed to the spot, got the car lifted from the canal besides registering a case.
