August 29, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: A second hand car buyer has been cheated to the tune of Rs. 14.70 lakh after a car dealer sold him a car which had met with an accident and the vehicle was declared as a scrap vehicle by the car showroom.

The man, who has been cheated is 44-year-old Mohammed Khizer, a resident of Gayathripuram in city.

Khizer, who wanted to buy a car, approached Afroz Khan of Rajivnagar, who is known to him. Afroz told Khizer that there was a KIA Seltos car (KA-51-MQ-3737) which had run only 2,500 kms and he could get the car at a much lesser price.

Later, one Imtiaz and Saleem, took Rs. 14.70 lakh from Khizer and gave him the car besides handing over the documents to Khizer. As the documents were in the name of Amarnath Reddy, Khizer got the documents transferred to his name.

After driving the car for about two months, Khizer observed that the car was making too much of noise and took the vehicle to the showroom where the staff told him that the car was declared as a scrap vehicle after it had met with an accident besides stating that the car insurance amount was also obtained, Khizer has stated in the complaint.

The complaint further stated that when Khizer questioned Afroz, Imtiaz and Saleem about selling the scrap vehicle to him, the trio threatened him with life, following which Khizer lodged a complaint at Udayagiri Police Station.

Udayagiri Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
