Carcass of calf found; tiger attack suspected

Mysore/Mysuru: A carcass of a calf, suspected to have been killed by a tiger was found at a mulberry farm near Varakodu village in the taluk yesterday.

The calf belonged to one Mallappa of the village and a pug mark suspected to be that of a tiger has been found near the carcass.

Mallappa’s house is located on the road connecting Badagalahundi village from the Kalyani in Varakodu village and the tiger is said to have killed the calf at about 9.30 pm.

Mallappa, who had thought that the calf may have been stolen, searched for the same, till yesterday afternoon. He later  found the carcass of the calf in the mulberry farm.  As pug marks were found around the carcass, villagers suspected that the tiger may have fatally attacked  the calf.

The villagers have urged the Forest Department to capture the tiger at the earliest.
