Mysuru: The Carmel Catholic Association, N.R. Mohalla, in association with Mysore Chess Centre, will be conducting CCA PAZZO Inter-School Chess competition on Sept. 6 (Sunday) at St. Joseph’s Central School, Yelwal, Mysuru.

With 1,000 students registered, this year’s edition is the largest inter-school chess tournament ever held in Karnataka.

The competition will be held in three categories: Std. 1-4, Std. 5-7 and Std. 8-10.

Registration has been closed and there will be no spot registration. Participants are requested to report by 7.45 am.

The tournament will be inaugurated by V. Eswara Rao, Vice-President (Works), JK Tyres & Industries Ltd., Mysuru, at 8.15 am. Reginald Wesley, former SPG Officer and Chief Vigilance Officer, Delhi Vidyut Board, will be the chief guest.

Rev. Fr. Edward William Saldanha, Secretary, MDES, will be the guest of honour.

Fifty prizes will be awarded in each category on the basis of points scored by participants. In addition, every student in Std. 1-4 category will receive a trophy.

The valedictory function will be held at 6.30 pm the same day. B.V.S.S.S. Prasad, Vice- President (Works), JK Tyres & Industries Ltd., Mysuru, will be the chief guest.

Rev. Fr. Biju Pallurathil, CMI, Vicar Provincial, CMI St. Paul’s Province, Mysuru, will deliver the valedictory address.

V.C. Rajeev, Regional Head, Federal Bank and Silvea Albuquerque, Principal, St. Joseph’s Central School, Yelwal, will be the guests of honour. Prof. Joseph Mathew, President, Carmel Catholic Association, Mysuru, will preside both the events.

 Joby Thomas is the Convenor of the CCA PAZZO Chess Tournament while Nagendra Muralidhar, Director, Mysore Chess Centre, is the Tournament Director, according to a press release.
