Mysore/Mysuru: The Vidyaranyapuram Police on Oct. 8 have registered case against five persons, including Mysuru Taluk Tahsildar, a Village Accountant and a Revenue Inspector on charges of illegally registering Pouti Khata concerning a landed property worth crores of rupees, in the name of others.
Those booked are Mysuru Taluk Tahsildar, Revenue Inspector, Village Accountant Nagesh, Jayalakshmibai and Jayashri, residents of Anubhavanagar in Nagarabhavi Second Stage, Bengaluru. They have been charged under Sections 465, 468, 471 and 420 R/W section 34 of IPC, following a complaint lodged by B. Srikantappa of Vijayanagar in city and Director of Thirumalai Roller Flour Mills.
Case details: Following an application by one R. Venkatappa, the then Deputy Commissioner in 1975 had done alienation of 2.06 acres of land coming under Survey No.155/2 (J.P. Nagar Industrial area land) of Kasaba Hobli in Mysuru taluk. Later, M.N. Narasimhanna, a Director of Thirumalai Roller Flour Mills, purchased the said land in the name of the company, as a company representative on May 17,1982. But the original registration document was not submitted to the Company. Narasimhanna died on June 7,1999, when the matter was brought to the notice of the Registrar of Companies at Chennai, saying that Narasimhanna was not a Director of the Company then. Thereafter, D. Krishnamurthy, the then official Director of Thirumalai Roller Flour Mills got approval for one site Industrial land after paying Rs.19,74,400 to MUDA. As such, the Revenue Department does not hold any rights regarding the said land. But still, Village Accountant Nagesh, the Revenue Inspector and the Tahsildar had unauthorisedly done Pouti Khata of the landed property that stands in the name of Thirumalai Roller Flour Mills, in the name of Jayalakshmibai, wife of late M.N. Narasimhanna and Jayashri, his daughter, on Aug. 11, 2022, the complaint said.
The complaint further said that Anandan Ramalingam Thyagarajan, Madhu Srikantappa and B. Srikantappa are the current Directors of the Flour Mills and the revenue authorities have done Pouti Khata of the said landed property in the name of Jayalakshmibai and Jayashri, without bringing the matter to their notice.
Tahsildar reacts
Meanwhile, Mysuru Taluk Tahsildar B.N. Girish, reacting to the case registered by Police, said it is the job of Village Accountant (VA) and Revenue Inspector (RI) to do Pouti Khata and the Tahsildar’s office has no role in it. He pointed out that the VA and RI got the family tree from Bengaluru and did the Pouti Khata after thoroughly verifying the documents.
Vidyaranyapuram Police have registered an FIR naming the Tahsildar too as an accused without knowing facts, he maintained and added that he would have given a clarification if Police had asked for.
