Pet store owner lodges counter complaint
Mysore/Mysuru: Accusing a pet shop owner of running the business without license, violating Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) guidelines and torturing dogs and birds by confining them in congested cages, a resident of Shyadanahalli has lodged a complaint following which K.R. Police have registered a case against the pet shop owner.
According to the complaint lodged by 33-year-old S. Priyadarshini of Shayadanahalli in city on Mar. 5 with K.R. Police, 47-year-old Harish, the owner of Lakshmi Pet Stores on Basaveshwara Road in K.R. Mohalla, was running the business without obtaining any license and without following any guidelines, he (Harish) had confined dogs and birds in congested cages without providing them basic facilities, thus torturing them. The complaint also stated that the pet shop owner was selling dogs and birds illegally and was also indulged in breeding animals. Based on the complaint, K.R. Police have registered a case.
Counter complaint: Following the complaint from Priyadarshini, Harish has also lodged a counter complaint on Mar. 6.
In his complaint, Harish has stated that on Feb. 1 at about 2.30 pm, Priyadarshini, along with others, claiming to be Government officials had come to his shop and accused him of not taking care of the animals and birds at his shop and threatened him of filing a case against him and send him to jail.
The complaint further states that Priyadarshini and others entered his house illegally and took away two three-month-old Pin Pin puppies with them and threatened him (Harish) of fixing him if he does not give them a Macaw bird.
Harish has also stated in the complaint that on Mar. 4 when he had gone to attend the last rites of his uncle, Priyadarshini and others, who had come near his shop, had indulged in verbal abuse with his neighbours.
Based on the complaint from Harish, K.R. Police have registered a case.
