Illegal betting outside Mysore Race Course

Six arrested, Rs. 4.11 lakh cash seized

Mysore/Mysuru: City Crime Branch (CCB) Police have arrested six persons for indulging in illegal betting outside Mysore Race Course and have seized Rs. 4.11 lakh cash from them.

CCB Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) S.N. Sandesh Kumar, who received information that a few persons were indulging in illegal betting outside the Race Course counter, which was not only causing loss to the Race Course but also to the government, passed on the information to DCP (Crime and Traffic) S. Jahnavi.

Based on the instructions from the DCP, ACP Sandesh Kumar, along with CCB Inspector Anoop Madappa, Sub-Inspectors Raju Konakeri and Maruthi Antharagatti, Assistant Sub-Inspectors Raju and T. Satish and staff Joseph Noronha, Lakshmikanth, Manjunath, Mahesh, Mohanaradhya, Arun Kumar, Raghu and Subhanallah, conducted an operation on Mar. 5.

During the operation, the Police found that a few persons holding registers in their hand were collecting betting money at a distance from the counter. The six accused were standing in separate places and were collecting betting money. The CCB Police, who disguised themselves, went to these persons, who were collecting money on the pretext of depositing betting money, found that the register contained the names of those who had placed their bets and the names of horses and immediately arrested the six accused besides seizing a total of Rs. 4,11,130 betting amount from them.

A case has been registered against the six accused at Nazarbad Police Station under the Karnataka Police Act 1963.
