March 15, 2019

Mysuru: A Village Accountant, who was caught red handed by the Lokayukta Police while accepting bribe to get a Pouthi Khata done, has been dismissed from service on Friday after the accusation was proved.

The Village Accountant who has been dismissed is M.S. Surendra. As per the directions from the Government on Jan. 11 and as per the order from the Deputy Commissioner in a letter on Mar. 7, the Village Accountant, who was serving as the First Division Assistant at present in the Record Room at the Tahsildar’s Office at Nazarbad here, Tahsildar Renukumar, on Mar. 8 at 4 pm dismissed Surendra from his service.

Surendra, who was earlier working as a Village Accountant at Karaganahalli Circle, Yelwal hobli in the taluk, had demanded a bribe of Rs. 8,000 from an applicant to get a Pouthi Khata done for an agricultural land. He was caught by the Lokayukta Police in 2011 while he was accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 and was arrested.

Lokayukta Police, who investigated the case, proved the case and submitted a report to the government. The government,  which conducted a Departmental Enquiry also found the accused guilty of accepting the bribe and as per Karnataka Civil Service Rule 1957, Rule 8, passed an order to suspend Surendra. After the Suspension Order was taken back, Surendra was posted to the Records Section at the Tahsildar’s office.

As Surendra has been dismissed from service, the responsibility of the Records Section has now been given to Second Division Assistant Sridevi.
