Mysore/Mysuru: Cauvery Heart and Multi-Speciality Hospital, Siddarthanagar, Mysuru, has successfully treated a heart patient from Yemen. Mohammed Hussein Ahmed, aged 58, was having cardiac problem from many years and had undergone stenting a few years back. From the past one year he was having severe breathing difficulty, swelling of legs and was not able to sleep or walk.
Addressing a press meet in city recently, Dr. S.C. Madhuprakash, Chief Cardiac Surgeon, said: “When the patient came to us he was suffering from heart failure with low cardiac function. He was brought to us by another Yemen patient on whom we had operated 3 years back. When we evaluated him, he had blocks in the stent and also the two valves were leaking badly, with poor heart function. He was requiring two bypasses, one valve replacement and another valve repair.”
“It was difficult and challenging, not only because of tough operation we had to conduct but also after the surgery these patients need extra care, because heart failure takes more time to settle after successful surgery,” he observed.
Dr. Satwik Telkar, Chief Cardiac Anaesthetist, said: “Post- surgery is also very crucial time as the patient needs regular monitoring, extra care and proper decisions.”
After an uneventful and successful surgery, the patient has recovered smoothly and is ready to fly back home in just one month after the surgery.
Dr. G.R. Chandrashekar, Chairman of Cauvery Heart & Multi-Speciality Hospital, said they have been performing cardiac surgeries with good results since 10 years and that they accept all challenging cases too.
B.J. Sandeep Patel, Facility Director, too spoke.
